Residents can longer apply for the state energy assistance program at the Neighborhood Services office and will need to travel to Hartford to register for services.
The shift is the result of state and federal budget cuts to the energy assistance program, according to the neighborhood services office, and the program’s relocation may be permanent.
Residents in need of energy assistance should visit the Community Renewal Team office at 395 Wethersfield Ave. in Hartford. To schedule an appointment call 860-560-5800.
Two local energy assistance “intake blitz” events scheduled for late 2011 and early 2012 will still take place at the neighborhood services office, located at 100 High Street, but will be appointment only. Residents can register for one these events by calling 860-253-6396.
