Berk-Millard Leasing Team Joins Avison Young in NoVa

Avison Young recruited top commercial real estate veterans Peter Berk, far left, and Dave Millard, left, as principals in the firm’s Tysons Corner, VA, office. The leasing team, formerly of Cushman & Wakefield, will focus on agency leasing and tenant representation in Northern Virginia.

Berk and Millard, who have more than 54 years of industry experience combined, have worked together for the past 26 years. The duo has been involved in more than 6 million square feet of real estate transactions in the past 15 years.

They were previously executive directors with Cushman in McLean where the Berk-Millard team completed more than 200 deals since 2008. The group has worked with ING Clarion Partners, The Shooshan Co., TA Associates, JBG, TIAA-CREF, BPG, Stuart H. Miller Co., Boston Properties, Brookfield and State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio.

The executives were also senior vice presidents and shareholders at Transwestern Commercial Services and senior vice presidents and partners at Smithy Braedon/Oncor International.

Joining Berk and Millard from Cushman are Nick Gregorios as senior associate and Julie Johnson as client services coordinator.

“As we continue to build our service platform in the DC area, Dave and Peter will be instrumental in those efforts and also as we expand our leasing business across all of North America,” said Earl Webb, Avison Young’s president, U.S. operations.

Trammell Crow Taps Queenan as CEO

Trammell Crow Co. named commercial real estate veteran Daniel Queenan as its new chief executive officer. He succeeds, and now reports to, Bob Sulentic, who served as CEO for 11 years before his appointment to president of TCC’s parent company, CB Richard Ellis.

“Danny has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and focus on customer service, along with the values, passion and energy that make him a tremendous leader for TCC,” said Sulentic.

Queenan joined TCC one year ago as head of central operations, managing the Austin, Chicago, Dallas and Houston offices, and the acquisitions and healthcare initiative groups. Before joining TCC, Queenan was president and CEO of Opus North Corp., now Opus Holding Inc. He oversaw more than 6 million square feet of commercial property development during his term.


SEATTLE
Corporate Real Estate Expert Joins Jones Lang LaSalle
Jones Lang LaSalle expanded its Corporate Solutions practice with the addition of Russ Howell as managing director. Howell will be based out of JLL’s Seattle office, reporting to Kenneth Rudy, who heads the firm’s Strategic Consulting Group in the U.S.

Elizabeth Hearle, international director and head of the Pacific Northwest region, called Howell’s hiring a key element in building the firm’s Strategic Consulting team that works with companies seeking to optimize their real estate portfolios and increase productivity of their space and workforce.

With more than 28 years of experience in corporate real estate and real estate investment banking, Howell’s strategic consulting and management experience include positions with the real estate departments of J.P. Morgan & Co. and IBM. He joins JLL from Johnson Controls where he served as senior vice President and practice leader of portfolio strategy where he led the development and implementation of portfolio and headquarters strategies, including business unit and city master plans, for Fortune 500 clients throughout the U.S. and overseas.

Invesco Mortgage Capital Promotes Four Louisville Executives
Invesco Mortgage Capital (NYSE: IVR) promoted four Louisville, KY, executives involved with its startup investment business, Invesco Advisers Inc. Invesco, an Atlanta-based REIT that went public in 2009, finances and manages residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities and loans.

Robson J. Kuster, currently head of research, was promoted to chief operating officer. He also promoted three on his team: Jason Marshall was named managing director, head of portfolio management; David Lyle was appointed managing director, head of residential mortgage credit; and Kevin Collins was tapped as managing director, head of commercial mortgage credit.

Former Howrey Construction Attorneys Move to Ober|Kaler
Five former Howrey attorneys led by principals Barbara G. Werther and Stephen D. Palley have joined Ober|Kaler’s Construction, Litigation and Risk Management practice in the firm’s Washington DC office.

The additions bring a health care and power industries focus to the law firm’s existing construction practice, with an added emphasis on representing policyholders in insurance counseling and recovery matters.

Lopriore Joins Colliers New Jersey
Frank Lopriore was recently hired by Colliers International to function as an executive managing director in both the office and industrial sectors.

Lopriore, previously of Grubb & Ellis, brings an extensive background in representing corporate tenants with locations in multiple markets. He has facilitated multiple real estate transactions for clients including Tyco International, Volkswagen, Liz Claiborne, McGraw Hill, Ford Motor Co., Oracle, DeLonghi, Hunter Douglas and Mercedes-Benz

Prior to his real estate career, Lopriore established a manufacturing facility and import company for leather goods, where he functioned as CEO of both MICO Handbags and Priore Bags and Belts.


LONG ISLAND
CPEX’s Leasing Team Gets Two New Managing Directors CPEX Real Estate Services promoted Eric Altschul, left, and Ryan Condren, far left, to managing directors of the leasing team.

Eric Altschul joined CPEX in 2008, and prior to that worked for Massey Knakal where he received the MKRS President’s Award. He has been involved in transactions with tenants such as Wendy’s, Subway, Boars Head and Allied Barton. Altschul is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY).

Ryan Condren also joined CPEX in 2008 after previously working for Massey Knakal and the 86th Business Improvement District. He has been involved in transactions with tenants such as Metro PCS, Entenmanns, and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Condren is also a member of REBNY.


NEW YORK CITY
Beegel Joins Colliers
Bruce Beegel joined Colliers International as managing director of the tenant representation division.

Beegel was previously with CB Richard Ellis as a senior associate, where he focused on building new relationships with clients. His career also included a position with Cushman & Wakefield.
