Dubai developer Nakheel claimed it believed its unsuccessful defence against former CEO Chris O’Donnell’s $3.7m law suit was “strong” and it would appeal the decision against it if it were possible.

In a court ruling on Thursday, the Dubai World Tribunal awarded O’Donnell $3m in overdue long-term incentive payments and AED916,893.93 ($249,624) in days in lieu he had worked and was contractually entitled to. The verdict was the conclusion of a legal dispute brought by O’Donnell in June last year.

A lack of mortgages for first-time buyers, historically high house prices and stagnant wages have led to soaring numbers of young people stuck in private rented accommodation.

The proportion of low and middle income (LMI) earners aged under 35 and renting has more than tripled from 14% in the late 1980s to 47% now, according to the Resolution Foundation. In its Squeezed Britain report it said that during the past six years the number of LMIs under 35 who owned a home plummeted from 51% to just over a third.

The foundation said housing costs became a huge burden for tenants during the past decade, with private sector rents increasing by a third in real terms between 1999-2000 and 2009-10.

In a move that could change Connecticut’s liquor landscape, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will propose allowing Sunday sales of alcohol at package stores and beer at supermarkets.

The change must be approved by the state legislature, which has repeatedly rejected the idea.

Malloy has changed his position from last year on the highly controversial and heavily lobbied issue. A year ago, he said that he would sign a bill for Sunday sales if it was passed by the legislature but that he would not do anything to make that happen. Accordingly, Malloy remained on the sidelines in 2011, and the bill failed.

The difference this year is a proposal with the strong backing of the governor’s office to change the long-running state law.

Who you gonna call? Finding a firm requires some research. A recommendation from someone is the best way to go, but when that’s not possible, check the internet to get an initial list. From there, do some checking with the Better Business Bureau and maybe a few customer review sites to see which companies have the best reputation and fewest customer complaints. Remember, all companies are going to have some issues, but check to see how the issue was resolved.
